Chongqing Talent Show Axes 'Rude' Celebrity Judges to Save Itself

The cheap stunts, rude judges and jumbled design criticized by the administration in a statement on Wednesday were on display during its August 10' broadcast, said the report.
Last Friday night, male contestant Dai Chuang, knelt down in front of judge Ke and asked her for a gift he would give to a girl he liked.
When she pulled off her ring and gave it to Dai, he put the ring on judge Yang's finger.
When asked who he would choose as his girlfriend, Yang or Ke, Dai answered he would choose Ke as she's younger. Yang immediately burst into furious anger.
He Wei, chief art supervisor of the show, told the newspaper yesterday that Dai's behavior was "absolutely not designed," and it was his "personal behavior.''
"But it's really our fault for not having cut the transmission signal in time when the farce occurred," Dai said.
"I should take major responsibility in this incident," he said.
Several senior officials with the Chongqing Broadcast, Film and TV Bureau, which supervises Chongqing Television Station, have flown to Beijing to meet officials with the state administration, in an effort to save the talent show, said the report.
The final decision to cancel the show permanently or allow it to resume after changes is expected next Monday, he said.
An official surnamed Kang with the show's production company; said changes are already underway, including selecting new judges, strengthening management of contestants, improving content and correcting the show's tone.
"First Crush on You" is the first talent show to be suspended on the Chinese mainland after similar programs such as "Super Girl" and "Happy Boys Voice" drew numerous fans, critical acclaim and lots of advertising revenue.
The show was launched last year by popular director and actor Zhang Guoli. It was designed to select artists for his TV series of the same name. Zhang quit the program early this year.
The state administration has stipulated that talent shows should include only "healthy and ethically inspiring" content rather than gossip or out-of-control fans.
The language and manners as well as hairstyles and clothes of contestants and judges should be in line with mainstream values.
