Guo Jingming Voted China's Most Hated Celebrity

Guo Jingming (郭敬明), a writer accused of plagiarism and Li Xudan (李旭丹), a TV actress accused of lying about her age have won this year's "Golden Crow Awards (金乌鸦奖),'' as the two most hated celebrities in mainland China. The four-year-old awards, which are awards by Tianya.cn, are based on an online vote that drew thousands of participants this year.

Writer Guo Jingming received 3,650 votes to take home the title "most hated male celebrity" for a stunning third year in a row. Actress Li Xudan won 4,294 votes to take home the title "most hated female celebrity.''

The Higher People's Court of Beijing ruled last year that Guo Jingming's book "Fallen Flowers in Dreams (Meng Li Hua Luo Zhi Duo Shao, 梦里花落知多少)" was a product of plagiarism and ordered him to compensate and apologize to writer Zhuang Yu (庄羽).

However, Guo Jingming has refused to apologize in defiance of the court ruling. He has even become a member of the China Association of Writers (中国作家协会), which triggered an uproar.

Li Xudan, who won a talent contest to earn a role in a TV series based on the literary classic "A Dream of Red Mansions (Hong Lou Meng, 红楼梦)," detested many people who say she is lying about her age and background.

Guo Jingming reportedly cried after hearing the result last year. However, when reporters contacted Guo about this year's award, he said he was on holiday and had no comment.
