You've got to hand it to him - if he had worked as hard at his job as he did at surfing for pornography, this Japanese worker would be employee of the month, every month. The unnamed council employee in the city of Kinokawa, southern Japan, has been punished for accessing hardcore porn websites an astonishing 780,000 times in just nine months.
However, receiving leniency that might not be evident in a British workplace, he has not been fired from his job, according to the BBC. Instead he has had to accept a pay cut of 20,000 yen (£80) a month and been demoted.
Embarrassingly for his employers, his antics were only remarked upon when his computer became infected with a virus and IT support looked at his web-browser history. His lack of productivity for the preceding nine months had gone entirely unnoticed.
A Kinokawa council official, explaining why no-one had spotted his misdemeanours, said that each employee's desk was set apart from the others.
